As we prepare for opening on June 1, 2020, we thought it would be beneficial to explain to our families the method we are using to ensure your safety and make sure we get everyone back on our schedule in an orderly and timely fashion.
We will be using a 3-phase opening process. All dates are pending the Governor lifting the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order on May 28th .
Phase I has already begun! We are doing in-office training on new check-in and dismissal, setting up our revised work processes and organizing our PPE with our team. During this time we are continuing to see our emergency patients on a scheduled basis. If it looks like the Governor will lift the “Stay Home, Stay Safe” order, we will begin slowly contacting patients the week of May 25th to reschedule.
Phase II begins the week of June 1st. At this time we will actually re-open for appointments. This week will be a “soft-launch” which will include seeing patients that have custom-fabricated lab work that was scheduled to be fitted in the months of March, April or May. We will also continue seeing any emergencies on a scheduled basis.
Phase III will begin June 8th when we will begin seeing routine wire change and bonding appointments. We will begin with patients that were originally scheduled in March and work our way through those that were scheduled in April and then May.
At this time, we are asking that each patient gently touch each and every brace on their teeth nightly to check for anything loose or broken and report issues to us right now (by call or text at (517) 278-7900) so we can be prepared for your arrival. If you are in need of elastics, or having aligner treatment, please also contact us – we can do curbside pickup or we can mail elastics.
Next, we want to share with you the things that we have done to ensure that you will be in an extremely safe and clean environment.
Our facility has been cleaned and sanitized and all non-essential items are being removed from surfaces. We only plan to use 2 of our 3 treatment chairs to ensure social distancing between patient procedures. We have placed plexiglass dividers at our front desk area and in our consultation room.
Our team will be screened at the beginning of each workday in the same manner we will be screening patients.
Now for what you can expect when you arrive at our office.
First, when you arrive:
- Call or text (517) 278-7900 from the parking lot to notify us that you have arrived. We plan to text you a short series of health questions prior to entering the office. Once your treatment chair is sterilized and setup, we will send you a text message to come in. We would prefer that only the patient come in the office, but understand that may not always be possible. We are asking that siblings do not come inside to maintain sterility as much as possible. Games, magazines and the coffee station have been temporarily removed.
- All patients and parents entering the office will be expected to wear a mask over their nose & mouth while inside our office, unless they are in the chair being treated. We will supply the patient with a reusable mask if they do not have one to bring from home.
- All patients/parents entering our office will be greeted inside the reception area where we will ask you to apply hand sanitizer and take your temperature.
- If you are not comfortable wearing a mask, please call us to reschedule your appointment to a later time.
This season has certainly brought on some challenges, but we are determined to rise to the occasion with a positive attitude and a high level of professionalism. As these circumstances are ever-changing, they will require our constant attention and re-evaluation. We ask that you give us grace and we will do so in kind.
We are very excited to be back to doing what we love and being with your family. We have truly missed you and are so grateful to have you in our lives. If this plan should happen to change, we will be sure to let you know.
